As an intern of CFA, I went to visit House of DE-FI. Through Dayton Threads, the CEO Careesa Brown brought multiple experted guests to give real life experience and knowledge about the fashion industry. On top of that, her and her team gave demos on how to cut and sew, knit, etc. They also showed me around the facility which included sourcing section, computer lab, outfit closets, etc.
As a Dayton native, seeing this creative space in that area is so amazing and inspiring. Growing up and seeing this would have for sure helped me decide what I want to do with my life but this will help the next generation of Daytonians tremendously. This is a safe space, a place of creativity, and a place of joy. I can’t wait to see what comes of this!
